Install old Dependencies
========================

Note: libpng12 is no longer available in the Ubuntu repository archives and as a result, some applications that were not built with the newer libpng (libpng16) library fail to install. 

Download and install libpng12-0_1.2.54-1ubuntu1.1_amd64.deb (113.7 KiB) :
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-security/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/15108504

or 

.. code-block:: none
    
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:linuxuprising/libpng12
    sudo apt update
    sudo apt install libpng12-0

For the same reason, install **libtiff4**.

1. Add the Ubuntu Precise Extra Packages Repo with:

    echo "deb [trusted=yes] http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise main universe" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/precise.list

2. Refresh the Apt Sources with:

.. code-block:: none

    sudo apt update

3. Installing libtiff4 on Ubuntu 20.04

.. code-block:: none

    sudo apt install libtiff4 libtiff4-dev

4. Disabling the Ubuntu Extra Apt Repo

.. code-block:: none

    sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/precise.list
    sudo apt update

Install Canon Packages
======================

First, Install the Canon Packages
First, Access the Target with:

.. code-block:: none

    cd /tmp/cnijfilter*deb/packages

For 64-bit Systems play:

.. code-block:: none

    sudo dpkg -i ./*amd64.deb

Now Check if the Printer is Connected & Powered On!

And then to Install Canon MG5250 Printer Driver
Run the Installation Script:

    cd /tmp/cnijfilter*deb

    sudo ./install.sh
